Winter refurbishments and extensions

New decking at Shamrock Quay

A number of winter / spring projects were completed in advance of the coronavirus lockdown. These included the reconfiguration of Sutton Harbour Marina at Plymouth (Sutton Marinas), in February where piers A and B were moved apart to widen the fairway and meet the demand for berths for larger vessels. To achieve the second objective Walcon installed twelve new finger pontoons to accommodate yachts up to 14 metres LOA. Meanwhile, at Portishead Quays Marina (Boatfolk ex. Quay Marinas) near Bristol, eight new 11-metre fingers were fitted in the latest phase of its incremental growth.

At MDL’s historic Shamrock Quay facility in Southampton (pictured right) the second phase of its improvements programme finished ahead of schedule with Walcon following up on its earlier redecking of piers H and I by repeating the process on piers J and K. Part of the back walkway was also redecked. Walcon also supported MDL’s winter dredging programme by undertaking the removal and replacement of finger pontoons at its Mercury, Port Hamble,  Hamble Point and Northney marinas. Some work remains to be completed at Northney once the lockdown is lifted and six new finger pontoons for Brighton Marina (Premier Marinas) will be delivered and installed at the same time.
