The rebuild of MDL's Torquay marina completes next phase

The ongoing project to replace the pontoons and walkways of MDL’s 440-berth marina in Torquay took another major step forward this spring. Pier A received an extension and widening of the berths to accommodate bigger yachts and visitors while Pier B was also modified to take larger boats. This winter, piers C & D will get the same treatment. The original Walcon pontoons were installed over thirty years ago and are now being replaced in phases to minimise disruption to the berth holders.

The process involves the removal and disposal of the old equipment followed by the installation of the new pontoons and walkways complete with services and safety equipment. The Walcon Wizard piling barge and all-round support vessel played an important role in facilitating the installation process.
