Walcon was very pleased to be chosen to provide the pontoons for the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18 stopover that took place in Cardiff from 27 May to 18 June. It was the race’s only stopover in the UK. The purpose-built marina, positioned on the waterfront next to the city’s cruise terminal, provided a safe and convenient facility for the seven, 22-metre sailing yachts and their various support boats. It also formed the centrepiece of the major festival that took place in celebration of the visit and was trod by countless pairs of feet over the three-week lay period without any signs of significant wear. Walcon is always ready to provide pontoons, walkways and bridges for short-term events, exhibitions and displays.
