We have been back at Southampton Solent University's Ship Handling Centre at Timsbury Lake for some repairs and upgrades. One of only two of its kind in the world, the SHC uses scale models of tankers and other vessel types to train pilots in manoeuvring in restrictive and high traffic waters. Challenges for the participants include navigating buoyed channels, critical bends and turning basins. Walcon is responsible for the 22 jetties that form an important part of the training programmes.

"The installation has stood the test of time, providing safe, stable, and accessible multi-berth space essential for our manned model training operations."
