Walcon Marine Italia, headed by Sara Lanzoni, continues to book interesting projects. A recent completion is a new floating pier at Marina di Balestrate, near Palermo in Sicily. We supplied 10 pontoons manufactured in Italy, similar to Walcon’s System 2000 model with aluminium frames, timber decking and 2-metre wide concrete floats plus cleats.
The marina is part of the Marinedi Group, the largest marina management group in Italy and a valued client of Walcon. In recent years Walcon has delivered pontoons, spare parts and accessories to their Marina di Villasimius and Marina di Teulada, both in Sardinia, and to Marina di Forio, Ischia. Founded in 2012 by Renato Marconi, Marinedi currently manages 14 marinas with 6,000 berths and has ambitions to grown to 20 or more.
Marina di Balestrate lies behind a large breakwater that for many years was empty of moorings. Since Marinedi took on the management of the facility they have brought new life to the facility, adding piers according to demand. This latest addition takes the total to four.
