New jetty for Chichester Yacht Club

We have installed a floating jetty at Chichester Yacht Club for use primarily by its dinghy sailors as phase one of a two-stage programme. This involved the installation of five System 21 pontoons in a linear format, built with low freeboard and plastic floats so as to maximise accessibility and live load for the dinghy sailors and their helpers. The pontoons are also designed to take the mud at low water.

The project was subject to strict MMO timing in order to avoid disturbing  local wildlife in what is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the same time, piling was put in for a second phase which will be completed once funding has been finalised. In the winter months, local radio-controlled boat enthusiasts will also be permitted to access the jetty, whose low freeboard will aid safe deployment and retrieval of their model boats.
