After last year’s cancellation, it was great to return to Mayflower Park in September after a two year hiatus for the Southampton International Boat Show. Once again we had a team on site over the summer, inserting the piles into their sockets in the seabed and assembling the marina, ably supported by the Walcon Wizard and Walcon Warrior barges bringing in the pontoons from our waterside depot in nearby Woolston. The SIBS marina continues to be Europe’s largest, temporary marina and over the ten days of the show more than 88,000 people trod its boards and, we hope, admired their stability and craftsmanship. If there were a few empty berths, it was only because unprecedented demand had left many brokers with little or no stock!
