Another significant project completed earlier in the summer. The replacement of end-of-life Walcon pontoons at MDL’s flagship Ocean Village marina in Southampton. The contract involved the replacement of all the pontoons along the south side of the marina, from piers F to L. The works got underway in October last year with the removal of some of the piles, followed by dredging, reinstating the piles and then installing the brand-new pontoons in the same layout as before. The project involved extensive walkways and over fifty finger berths with the largest capable of taking boats up to 17 metres in length. Generous amounts of alongside berthing allow for even larger yachts as does the new pier L which features pontoons built for vessels up to 50-metres, fabricated by Inland & Coastal with installation assistance from Walcon. Marina Projects oversaw the works.
