New projects in the Netherlands

Doesburg access bridge and floating storage platform

Notable projects in the first half of 2016 include that at the Turfhaven in Doesburg. There as part of a larger regeneration project Infra Trading installed a facility that combined finger pontoons and a long walkway (pictured left) built using Walcon’s System 21, with a large floating platform totalling 441 m² that was subsequently fitted with bicycle storage racks. This is for the use of people going on board the excursion boat that uses one end of the walkway for embarking and disembarking passengers. A number of berths were also added, along with a long access bridge. The durable design of the System 21 pontoons makes them ideal for high traffic facilities such as this. Infra Trading worked with contractor Van Heteren, with whom it has cooperated previously.

Meanwhile at Heveahaven in Renkum, the first phase of a new marina got underway at the start of the year. Walkways and finger pontoon capable of holding up to 49 boats were installed in an area previously used by craft waiting to use a nearby lock. The project was the result of an initiative to give Renkum residents easier access to their local waterways. The plan is to add more capacity in the future.
