We recently returned to Great Yarmouth, this time eight years after we supplied three pontoons for a new crew transfer vessel berthing facility for wind farm operator RWE at their east coast docks. These were never installed and were instead stored on the quayside until this year when we were invited back to complete the job.
This comprised removing two old bridge landing pontoons and replacing them with new units, both heavy duty System 21 with Govadeck decking, then assembling and installing the three original pontoons, two for additional berthing and the third a return pontoon.
It was a pleasure to work once again with RWE. Scroby Sands was one of the UK’s first commercial offshore wind farms. Commissioned in December 2004, the £75 million project generates enough energy to supply over 40,000 homes.
