Helping science to get afloat

We have worked with scientific organisations in the past and so it has been a pleasure to build two structures for water technology company Xylem to house the equipment required to monitor and transmit data regarding water quality in large reservoirs. The 4.5 by 3 metre platforms have been constructed using our ultra-tough Docking Solutions product that requires minimal maintenance and will protect its delicate contents in the event of impacts from boats. The structures have aluminium frame decks with ducting below mesh flooring and are held in position with mooring chains. They were delivered fully assembled having first been to Walcon’s Woolston facility to have the telemetry installed and trialled. Their instrumentation measures a wide range of parameters including acidic levels, run-off, water temperature and ultraviolet light.

A few years ago we did a similar project for the University of Portsmouth, building a 'research raft' designed to host experiments and instruments in a saltwater environment.
