WALCON WRAPS UP RECORD DUBAI BOAT SHOW WITH FULL PROGRAMME OF PROJECTS Walcon Marine, the market leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of marinas and yacht harbours around the world, has come away from the recent Dubai International Boat Show with a record number of serious enquiries for some very exciting Middle Eastern projects. Walcon Marine has been at the heart of the Dubai International Boat Show for many years and has been supplying the organisers with pontoons for the in-water display for five years. This year, the size of the temporary marina at the Dubai International Marine Club where the show takes place increased by over 50% and no fewer than 126 boats were berthed in the Walcon System 2000 pontoons that formed the marina. Like the Southampton Boat Show, where Walcon also supplies the pontoons, the temporary marina piles are placed into permanent driven sockets in the sea bed, and then removed at the end of the show, ready to be replaced next year. With a manufacturing facility in Dubai, Walcon Marine is well placed to supply not only the Dubai International Boat Show, but also the huge increase in demand for marinas and marina berths in the whole of the Middle East. This local facility cuts out shipping costs from Europe and ensures better prices, as well as first class service for local customers. The Dubai International Boat Show, the largest Middle Eastern boat show, this year attracted a record number of 472 exhibiting companies and nearly 25,000 trade visitors. The show area was increased to over 15,000 m² , an increase of 55%. Of the 252 boats exhibited, half were berthed in the Walcon marina, thus making them easy to see in their natural environment. Over 80% of the allocated space for the 2007 Dubai International Boat Show has already been reserved and Walcon Marine will once again be supplying the pontoons. With the interest in boats and sailing at an all time high in the Middle East, driven in particular by a range of new developments with waterfront properties and adjoining marinas, Walcon Marine is well placed to provide both expertise and design suggestions, no matter how large or small the development. Walcon is delighted with its results from the Dubai International Boat Show and has already started working on the many contracts it hopes to win in the region. Commenting on the success of the show, Clive Kemp, Commercial Director of Walcon Marine, said: - “We are extremely pleased with the level of interest and number of enquiries in our range of products that we received at the Dubai International Boat Show. The show gets better year on year and is now well established as the premier boat show in the Middle East. We look forward to retuning again next year when we hope to have converted some of our many enquiries into firm contracts.” Further press information: Clive Kemp, Commercial Director, Walcon Marine Ltd. |
