THE PROBLEM
We are faced with trying to prevent algal re-growth in its ideal growing habitat - moist surfaces, warmed by the sun and constantly rejuvenated with nutrients.

We can only hope to hold back nature in certain specific areas and then only for a finite time.  Whatever solution is going to be a compromise and constrained by cost.

THE SOLUTION
The Walcon Inhibitor contains Byotrol, which relies on physics rather than chemistry to do most of the work, making the products probably the least environmentally damaging available today.

The very clever and novel Byotrol solution coats the surface with an extraordinary, molecular thin, layer which changes the surface tension characteristics at the algal spore level, disrupting their habitat.   The surface coating also holds minute traces of biocides (almost homeopathic), which in combination act as a back up to attenuate any aging spore cells left in the biofilm.  However, anything larger than a spore cell will not notice that there has been a change on the surface and hence will not be affected by Byotrol in any way.

Once a timber surface has been treated with Walcon Inhibitor, micro-organisms cannot regain a hold on the surface for some considerable time and hence are unable to multiply.  Concrete, stone or granite surfaces are treated the same way but need pre-cleaning and repeated applications if they are within the tidal range.

WALCON INHIBITOR
This is an aqueous solution in 5, 20 or 1000 litre containers, ready for use.  As Inhibitor is a surface modifier applied to timber or concrete type surfaces, it cannot, of course, prevent algae growing on anything that is washed onto a treated surface, so routine low pressure water washing is required to remove surface detritus, weed, silt and sand left by the retreating sea.

Inhibitor is an ideal and safe substitute for the routine use of sodium hypochlorite - which has now been banned by the EU as it has caused untold environmental damage.
