STRUCTURE
The float comprises expanded
polystyrene core protected by 19mm of
glass reinforced concrete.
FIXINGS
Four Stainless Steel (grade A4) fixing
bolts are cast into the top surface for
normal use, although through-bolt
connections with timber bearers may
be used where the units are expected
to take the ground. The floats are produced in steel moulds
giving a smooth surface.
DURABILITY
They are virtually maintenance free,
require no anodes and are not attacked
by electrolytic action, the effects of
marine environment or the ultra-violet
rays of sunlight.
This form of construction ensures
permanent flotation as the Polystyrene
core material is closed cell, absorbing
water up to a maximum of 5%by
volume.
The floats have a proven record of more
than thirty years satisfactory service
with minimal maintenance.
