Contact Us

Walcon are always here to try and help with any of your pontoon, marina piling or marina maintenance requirements. Our aim is to help you achieve the best possible outcome, and to that end if we can ask you to consider some of the points below it would really help us to start off in the right direction when completing our Enquiry Form.

SIZE & TYPE OF VESSELS

Details of the types of vessels you intend to use will help us to assess the loading that will be transmitted into the pontoons and in turn the pontoon mooring system. It also helps for pontoon Freeboard, Cleat, and Fender requirements etc.

LOCATION & CONDITIONS

As with the vessels, the local environmental conditions have an impact on the design of the pontoon system. Wind and fetch, waves and swell, ground conditions and possible environmental restrictions, all play a part.

PERMISSIONS REQUIRED

Chances are, you will need to gain some form of permission(s) for your intended installation. Local Authority Planning Permission and MMO Licences for Piling and Dredging are usual, but a License from the Crown Estate may also be required. There are occasionally restrictions in some locations that can be prohibitive, for example some Quay Walls are Listed structures and cannot be fixed to, and some areas are environmentally sensitive with any form of disruption not allowed.

NEW INSTALLATION, REPLACEMENT, OR EXTENDING/TYING IN WITH EXISTING

Is this a completely new installation or are there some existing elements that will need to be matched/interfaced with? We can make adjustments to try and closely match what you may already have in place, but obviously there will be time and cost implications over using our standard equipment. The more detail you can provide us with, the quicker and more accurately we can progress things.

STRUCTURE AND DECKING PREFERENCE

While any actual offering will be subject to the local conditions and suitability for the purpose, if you have a preference for a particular material to be used, just let us know and we will see if we can make it work.

MOORING OF PONTOONS

Have you considered how any pontoons are to be held in place?
There is quite a lot involved in keeping everything where it is expected to be, all of the above have an influence on the design. Common mooring systems include the use of tubular steel or timber piles, anchor chains with concrete sinkers, and column sections fixed to a wall.

If you would like to contact us at Walcon Marine, please provide as much detail as possible in the form below.
